When The World Turns Violent!

When The World Turns Violent!

Its dangerous out there and especially for you..

The enemy may be next door and you don’t know it but you got to have the guts too look. What can you really do once you see some violence or get scared or worse because you receive a bashing or king hit – do you hide in your house?

The danger today is maybe not too obvious to you but you better hone your sensors or youll get hit without seeing it coming.

You know that given a situation to be a hero and stop a crime, terrorism or violence you’ll be able to step up or chase after them etc – or maybe you’ll cower or be the victim.

TV today scares the shit out of many people as it promotes violence and turns the meek yellow and nervous.

Were are you on the scared meter of life? Are you out there amongst it or a bit of a shy body or house mummys boy?

Have you ever seen raw bloodlust or someone getting ‘owned’? Just search google for “martial street fights” – “martial owned” Watch those movies and cringe!!!

Kung Fu, Boxing, dancing, balley, incompetance? What will you display to your attacker?

Today we are lazy, probably fat too.. Go look in the mirror and skip for ten minutes, then check your image again and what do you see?

I can judge I am probably half the strength and endurance form 10 years ago, how about you?

Can you throw a punch or even stand steady on one leg? can you do a round-house or even give a kick to the knee? Ever heard of a combination?

A martial art is defined as – 1 : of, relating to, or suited for war or a warrior 2 : relating to an army or to military life 3 : experienced in or inclined to war : WARLIKE

a martial art is defined as: various forms of self-defense, usually weaponless, based on techniques developed in ancient China, India, and Tibet.

If you’ve never studied a martial art, your awareness of them most likely starts at Bruce Lee movies and ends with the stylized theatrics of The Matrix. If that’s the case, you may not realize from what you’ve gleaned onscreen that there are an estimated 200 unique kinds of martial arts, and within these, thousands of different styles. Karate, judo, kung fu, and tae kwon do are among the most popular and well-known of the martial arts in the U.S., but there are numerous others.

Despite the array of martial arts and styles, most of them share common techniques, and so they can be organized into broad categories that facilitate understanding. The primary way of classifying martial arts is by the basic physical technique they use: striking or grappling.

Do you even know the difference between kung fu and karate? Do you think wing chun is a Chinese dish?

Or a combination of triangles with small circles as can be seen in Chinese trapping, wrist locks or Aikido entry and endings.

Because karate, judo, kung fu, and tae kwon do have been more prominent than other forms in popular culture, from film to sporting events, many people mistakenly believe that all martial arts are Asian in origin. In fact, diverse cultures throughout history from Europe, Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East have also given birth to their own martial art forms.

The different styles can even be related to shapes or geometry – squares, triangles and circles.

Training is hard..really hard. The most hard is to get started and its down-hill easy from there. What you need is a martial arts machine – something new and exciting to get you off your fat ass.

Everyone knows someone who knows how to fight – with fists, knives, weapons, guns, tactical, senseless, whatever but START!

Whats important now is to do something, start with brief exercise, get into stretching, shadow box, then step up and train hard.

GO to the local phone book and look up kung fu or karate. Then give them a call, go along or take your kid.

CONCLUSION IS ACTION

Life is not scarey but maybe your lack of skill, self confidence and personal competence is making you afraid.

Be pro-active and look, then choose and participate in action whether alone with a martial arts training machine or go to a dojo.

If you are not liking what you see in the mirror, afraid to go down a dark street, scared of a potential confrontation then train now.

We cant all be Bruce Lee but you also dont want to be an emotional and physical punching bag do you?

Be pro-active and look, then choose and participate in action whether alone with a martial arts training machine or go to a dojo.

Life is not scarey but maybe your lack of skill, self confidence and personal competence is making you afraid.

What To Do If Someone Wants To Fight You!

What To Do If Someone Wants To Fight You!

PHYSICAL COMPETANCE

Have you ever seen raw violence or someone getting ‘owned’? Just search google for “martial street fights” – “martial owned” Watch those movies and cringe!!!

a martial art is defined as: various styles of self-defense, usually weaponless, based on techniques developed in ancient China, India, and Tibet.

The term ‘Kung Fu’ does not relate to any specific form of martial art, but rather translates as ‘talent’ or ‘aptitude’.

Wu Shu is traditionally the term popularly used to describe the traditional Chinese martial arts, though other descriptions akin to Kuo-shu, Kuo-chi, Chien-shu and Tao-fa have also been used occasionally. (Wu Shu is the term of late used for Chinese martial arts by the People’s Republic of China).

THE TRAINING ANSWER

The Martialarm is the only martial arts training dummy that bequeaths you consummate realism in all your martial arts training in kung fu, karate, krav maga, jeet kune do, tae kwon do, kempo and more.

The martialarm is unlike similar training dummies: The wooden dummy has been used for centuries as a solo training machine. In contemporary years, they’ve been provided accessible in different materials as well as synthetic. But still they all have one item in general:

They dont swing and they’re all static.

The wooden dummy frequently costs hundreds of dollars but is still only produced to absorb your blows and step up your precision moves. It doesn’t react to your attacks akin to a factual partner can. So although you get apt repetition training, which is acceptable for accomplishing the basics down, it may well be difficult to use and will get dreary so quickly.

Why A little Martial Artists Improve Faster Than Others

As martial artists, we all recognize this. Your martial arts instructor probably hammers the point home in practice every day. Alas, there are only so so many classes in a week and this can stunt your learning and headway.

You want to improve – swift. And you’re keen put in your time with home training. But solo training can only take you so far due to the fact it lacks the interaction that only a assistant can award.

Until Now!

10 Common-sense Self Defense Tips For Men

10 Common-sense Self Defense Tips For Men

For more than 30 years I have been running specialized self defence courses and seminars. Over that time I have shown thousands of people how to protect and look after themselves.

Increasing personal safety ALWAYS commences with awareness.

Since most men may be attacked in almost any situation and for a wide-ranging variety of reasons I offer the following advice.

Here is a list of ten simple things that you can do immediately that will increase your safety:

1 – Most men get involved in physical trouble as a result of saying something rude, offensive, tactless, stupid or hurtful. Controlling what comes out of your mouth can keep it in good shape. Think before you speak.

2 – If a fight breaks out in a bar – leave immediately. Go before all the drunks and brawlers start swinging chairs, bottles, glasses and punches. A “free for all” usually starts with just two protagonists. Innocent bystanders often get hit. Those who leave all the fools to bash each other do not.

3 – NEVER attempt to mediate an argument between a man and a woman. Both will cease arguing or fighting with each other and turn on you – the common enemy. If you fear for the woman’s safety, call the police.

4 – Understand that many people these days have a cocktail of drugs and booze in their veins. It makes them argumentative, aggressive and “Mike Tyson-esque.” Avoid people who are “off the planet.” Even a casual glance at them can set them off. Leave them with their own demons.

5 – Don’t make the fatal mistake of thinking that ANYBODY fights “fair” any more. Those days are over – they have been since the John Wayne era! Expect multiple attackers, weapons, possibly both.

6 – The cemeteries are full of dead heroes. Don’t add to their number. Run if you can. There is no shame in avoiding a fight. In fact, running away is smart.

7 – Recognize objects in every room of your home that could be used as makeshift weapons. Home invasion is a growing curse these days due to the unwillingness of our governments to protect their citizens.

8 – THIS IS MORE OF A LEGAL WARNING: Understand that if you allow yourself to be placed in a “compromising” position with a woman, particularly one who is “under-age,” then the woman’s version of events will usually be believed over the man’s version. Do not allow yourself to get into such situations.

9 – Negotiation is a far higher art form than physical confrontation. Do anything reasonable to avoid a fight. NOTHING good ever comes out of conflict. War is proof of that.

10 – When all else fails, your back is to the wall and there is absolutely no other alternative left remember… “it is better to be tried by twelve than carried by six.”

Remember my opening words – “increasing personal safety ALWAYS commences with awareness.” Increase your awareness, mind your manners, know your surroundings and you will certainly improve your safety.

How Shock Can Effect Even The Greatest

The toughest thing to train for is the shock of the unexpected it can leave you helpless even against an inferior opponent.  The following clip showing the British comedian Freddie Starr and the greatest boxer of all time Muhammed Ali.  Not only very funny but illustrates my point completely.

Avoidance Of Violence Best Tool In Your Self Defence

When you are talking about self defence people automatically think of what weapons or training they can use to protect themselves and their loved ones.  They also imagine that violence of some sort is the way to go that self defence is all about your ability to fight off any threat.  Now this may sound funny coming from someone who spends his working life training and teaching martial arts but the avoidance of violence is your biggest weapon in self defence.

To explain this idea a little more, just because you have had some training and you are hot stuff in the gym or dojo does not automatically prepare you for the reality of a confrontation in a bar or on the streets.  In fact very little can really prepare you for what can be the most terrifying and debilitating moments in your life.  Even very experienced and extremely capable martial artists have frozen when confronted with a real threat outside of the dojo where there are no rules and anything can happen.  What if the person you are arguing or falling out with has a knife you could be six foot fifteen stone of trained muscle that would not mean a thing if you are stabbed.

Yet some people will say does your martial art not teach you how to deal with a knife attack well we do knife attack training and it is very rare you can disarm or get away unscathed no matter what you may have seen on television or at the movies.  We have all seen Seagal or Van Damme dispatch and disarm attackers with knives and guns this is the movies, not a cold wet Friday night outside the dog and duck with an angry thug coming at you with a drink fuelled fury determined to ruin your night.

Hopefully you can see why I say the avoidance of confrontation or violence can be the best tool in your self defence armoury.  Easier said than done I know, nobody likes backing down or having friends or family thinking you a coward well let me tell you they do not.  There is nothing heroic or clever getting into a fight over a spilled drink or a thoughtless remark or any one of a hundred similar stupid reasons that sometimes lead to tragic consequences for you and your family.

You may think with what I have said so far that martial arts training have little value nothing could be further from the truth.  Martial arts do not just teach you to fight, if you are taught well they also give you the humility and confidence which gives you the ability to walk away without letting your ego get you into the kind of trouble that can have life changing consequences.  This is not to say you should not fight back when attacked but let this be the last resort talk or walk your way out if at all possible.

Some of the toughest men and women I know many of whom work as security in bars and clubs consider that they have failed to a certain extent if they have to resort to violence to remove potential troublemakers from the premises.  They would much rather talk you out of the club than throw you out they try and defuse the situation by being firm confident and friendly in fact the last thing they want is for the situation to escalate to violence.  Not because they could not handle it because believe me these are very accomplished and genuinely tough individuals but to them violence is and should be the last resort.

A Few Reasons To Train In The Martial Arts

I had read an article in a running magazine about the benefits you get for participating in regular exercise.

This got me to thinking about my own activities and what benefits I derive.
In fact when I started writing down my thoughts I realized there are some fantastic reasons for someone who is unsure or just thinking about training in the martial arts.
So please read this it may give you the confidence or the push you need to start training in a martial art.

Underneath are my top eight, I realize we are all different and you may have other ideas that are great nothing is set in stone. We should all keep an open mind and learn together.

Respect

Respect in the gym or dojo is very important. If you do not have respect for your teacher how can you learn, no respect for your classmates can result in injury or worse.

Awareness

What I mean by this unlike a lot of activities for example running, where you often see people pounding out the miles listening to music oblivious to what’s happening around them.
In the martial arts mind and body have to work together, you have to be aware of what is happening around you for your own safety and others.

Stress Reduction

Many studies have shown that regular exercise such as cycling, running, aerobics all relieve bodily stress. The martial arts we train both the mind and body so relive stress to both.
This also gives you the added benefits of cutting down the risks of heart attacks or strokes.

Focus

With the mind and body working together you will be focused on what you are doing which allows you to progress quicker than you thought you could.
You may be surprised to learn that another benefit is that it carries on into your everyday life.  For example you may find you are doing better at work as you are able to concentrate better, even simple tasks like driving can improve.

Conditioning

With the martial arts you work your whole body so it is a more intense workout than say just going to the gym and using a treadmill for half an hour. The health benefits are as above cuts down on stress aids concentration cuts down the risk of ill health obesity helping keep you lean and healthy.

Challenge

The martial arts present a challenge every day as there is always something new to learn or achieve. We are all students who I hope are looking to expand our knowledge.
Again this can continue into our everyday lives maybe helping with our ambitions.

Self Confidence

With the mind and body working together you have the focus, conditioning and knowledge to give you automatically more self confidence. The benefits to this are enormous it helps in work, your relationships with others and you feel good.

Self Defense

You now have the awareness, the focus, the conditioning and the knowledge to defend yourself. The self confidence can stop you acting in anger and be able to let you control the outcome of any confrontation. Even if this means having the confidence to just walk away, at least with the knowledge you could have coped if things had got physical.

Well that’s my eight I am sure you could all come up with more or expand on these as I have said before nothing is set in stone except the benefits of training in the martial arts.

Evasive Driving Secrets

When you think about “self defense”, you probably think about
punching and kicking skills… firearms training… edged
weapons… etc.

But violence comes in many forms.

And there’s one area that most people don’t even consider
preparing for, and it’s a HUGE mistake!

For example, what if you were:

*  Attacked by a crowd of people at a demonstration?

*  Being chased by a driver on the highway who you mistakenly
cut off and he’s trying to run you down?

*  Targeted by a violent gang out looking for a thrill?

True story.. in New Mexico, gangs initiated new members by
driving around with their lights off.  The first oncoming
car that flashed its lights as a “friendly heads up” would
become the “target car”. The gang would circle around and
the new member’s role was to shoot at the car… no matter
WHO was in it!

These are very real scenarios that you MUST prepare for!

For this reason, you need to include “evasive driving” in your
survival plan.

Now that DOESN’T mean you have to have a fast car and go to
bodyguard school.

In fact, here are 5 tips you can master right now for evasive
driving skills when you’re being chased by a car full of
attackers:

1.  “Speed” is not necessarily your friend

The one who survives a high speed car chase isn’t usually the
fastest, it’s the one who doesn’t crash.

Watch those idiots being chased by police on shows like “Cops”
and those crazy “caught on video” shows and you’ll see that all
the police have to do is follow the perp until he wraps himself
around a telephone pole and then put the cuffs on him.

In a chase, try not to travel over 65mph to make sure you can
handle your car effectively on the turn of a dime.

2.  Turn when they can’t

Rather than try to outrun someone, let them get close enough to
you and then take a quick, last minute turn in a different
direction.

Action is faster than reaction and if they’re behind you, they
won’t be able to respond in time to take the same turn you just
did.  They’ll either crash or have to back up to follow you and
by then, you’ll be long gone.

3.  If on a highway, take a 4-lane exit

If you’re being chased by someone on the highway, identify an
upcoming exit and move to the far LEFT lane.

With your pursuer close behind you, make sure you have clearance
and at the last minute, shoot across all 4 lanes to barely make
your exit.  It will be difficult for them to back up, especially
in the left lane against traffic, to follow you.

4. Distract the driver

If you’re driving at night, reach under your seat and pull out a
2- to 5,000,000 candlepower spotlight.  (You can get these from
any boating or auto store.)

Shine it behind you at the driver and you’ll instantly blind him.
He’ll likely stop the car out of sheer panic of crashing (which
he may do).

These are just a few of the tricks you can use to escape from
someone while you’re in your vehicle.  For even “sneakier”
advice, there’s a whole section on “survival driving” in a new
book and audio program just released on “escape and evasion
during riots”.

The program’s website is at:

Close Quarters Combat Training

Here are some of the other strategies the website offers:

*  Cheap, easy-to-find, and LEGAL “weapons” you can keep in
your car that can cause a pursuing vehicle to crash or
completely breakdown.  (This is real “poor man’s James Bond”
stuff!)

*  A 12-second “man trap” that’s capable of taking out MULTIPLE
ATTACKERS!

*  The first person to pick off if you’re being chased by a
gang of thugs! (No, it’s NOT the leader of the group!)

*  3 weird distraction devices that will shock the hell out of
your attackers allowing you to escape… or ATTACK!

*  An ancient “assassin’s trick” that will allow YOU to be the
first one to strike and take out at least one or two
attackers right away!

Who could pass up knowing these secrets, right?

That’s why I highly suggest you go and check this out now at:

MMA Conditioning Using Medicine Ball And Power Exercises

In mixed-martial arts, rotational power of the core is crucial to the execution of explosive techniques, whether they be throws, punches, kicks, knees, or escapes. Failing to improve the strength and power of your core in rotational patterns will limit your ability to knockout, slam, or surprise your opponents. The medicine ball is an extremely effective tool for developing your rotational power. First, throwing a medicine ball allows you to put your full effort into the exercise, without slowing it down. Just think of doing a lying medicine ball chest pass and a speed bench press – because you can’t let go of the bar during the bench press, your body has to slow the bar down at the top, limiting your power production. But with the ball, you release it and you use full power through the entire range of motion. So exercises like the side toss and chop toss using a medicine ball will go a long way to developing the knockout power you’ve always wished you had. Side Toss 1. Take a wider than shoulder-width stance with slightly bent knees, holding the ball in front of your navel. 2. Do a quick wind-up and throw the ball straight to the side, keeping your spine as tall and straight as you can. 3. Avoid throwing the ball with your arms, instead, power the movement with your core. Chop Toss 1. Same setup as side toss. 2. Do a quick wind-up up and to one side, bringing the ball over one shoulder and shifting your weight to the same side. 3. Slam the ball into the ground on a diagonal while shifting your weight to the other side. 4. Keep tall and continue to look forward instead of at the ball. Now integrating these two exercises into a circuit will help you develop your power endurance. We’ll add 3 body-weight exercises to the mix to simultaneously develop your power and conditioning, using exercises that will specifically benefit a MMA fighter. 1. 10 Lunge jumps – start in a lunge position, jump as high as possible and switch your feet landing and jumping as quickly as you can. 2. 5 Side tosses each side 3. 10 Squat jumps – start in an athletic stance, jump as high as you can and repeat as fast as you can. 4. 5 Chop tosses each side. 5. 10 Clap push-ups – do the push-ups as explosively as possible and focus on clapping your hands as loud as you can. Rest one minute and repeat for a total of 4 – 8 circuits. For the jumps and pushups, think of the ground as hot coals and your goal is to not burn your feet while always being as explosive as possible. This type of circuit is what a mixed-martial artist needs to excel in the cage or ring. Of course, proper exercise technique will prevent injuries, so if your form gets sloppy, do less reps or take more rest between circuits. For more information   Click Here!

Balance Points

As promised I will be reviewing self defence and martial art DVD’s and books, the first of which is taken from the huge collection donated by Master Russell Stutely Europe’s leading authority on the use of pressure points in the martial arts.

The first DVD I will be reviewing is titled Balance Points this DVD is available as either a download or as hard copy DVD. The viewing quality of the download version is excellent with no problem playing on full screen.

Now to the fun bit the content, as the title suggests this is about balance points and how by following simple rules you can easily unbalance an opponent whilst keeping your own. The importance of balance in any martial art be it boxing or traditional karate can not be over emphasised. Put simply if your opponent is off balance there punches or kicks carry no real power there accuracy goes out of the window in fact they are in a bad place where with you in balance can hit with full power and accuracy. The principles laid out in this amazing DVD apply to any and all martial arts and when you incorporate these principles into your own style you can not help but improve.

Russell makes learning very easy as each lesson is shown slowly from various viewing angles so that the viewer can get to grips with each lesson very easily. One thing he keeps saying is start light and slow to begin with and as your confidence grows increase the power levels. Obviously letting your training partner know as good training partners are hard to find and you do not want to break any.

I have previously stated that the principles laid out in this DVD can be adapted to any and all martial arts this is because we are talking about the body here and what will unbalance the body it means it is the same for everybody irrespective of style or art.

This is a DVD I heartily recommend to any martial artist beginner or black belt you will be bowled over by the simplicity and effectiveness of the techniques shown.
